Welcome Message from President

Shri. Francis Joseph Tuscano

The value of a college education is not the learning of many facts but training the mind to think. It is all about acquiring understanding.
St. Joseph College was started in 1995 with an objective of making education accessible to all students in the vicinity without any discrimination of caste, creed and religion. Through value-based education and learning, we as management of St Joseph College see students as nation builders, technology movers and change agents.

Principal’s message

Dr. Prakash Dongre

I, as the Principal of Dnyandeep Mandal’s St. Joseph College of Arts and Commerce, feel extremely happy and proud to be a part of this well-established and reputed college. We offer the students varied under-graduate and post-graduate courses at the esteemed University of Mumbai. We are here to transform the young students into a potential source of knowledge, energy, strength, and a catalytic force to metamorphose the social fabric. A dedicated team of teachers, administrative staff, cooperative parents, and dynamic management imbued with great vision, form a unified team making endeavors to achieve the above. Our students and staff enjoy our college campus which is surrounded by beautiful nature. As I walk around our college, it is exciting to see and experience the special and unique opportunities available to our students.

Dnyandeep Mandal’s St. Joseph College provides a warm, caring, stimulating, and challenging environment in which our students learn and develop. We aim to provide an education that explores and strengthens the potential which is innate in every individual but awaiting expression. Every day our first lecture begins with a national anthem and prayer as a part of promoting nationalism and maintaining religious harmony.  Emphasis is thus placed on promoting a spiritual quotient resulting in personal achievement, building a sense of responsibility towards the nation and ultimately securing a strong sense of self-awareness.

We believe that education is not about mere imparting knowledge but more about opening the student’s mind to self-expression. As per Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam –“Educationists should build capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and become their role model”. Our teachers treat the students as potential leaders and mold them to face the everyday challenges of the modern world. Open-mindedness, a multicultural orientation, independence, a global outlook, multiple intelligences, and abilities – are the premium qualities needed in the modern world. The students are assisted to focus on confidence building while nurturing a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility through academic and co-curricular activities. Our college thus promotes a research culture among students which is the need of the hour today and motivates them to participate in various activities including research paper presentations.

In the present era of the digitalized world, it is the biggest challenge for educators and parents, to nurture the young minds with the indelible impressions of holistic education. Therefore, through carefully planned, inter-disciplinary scholastic and co-scholastic programs we endeavor to foster different facets of a student in order to see him/her developing into a vibrant student, responsible citizen, and above all a generous and sentient human being. St. Joseph College tradition happily brings together sound academic achievement with extensive, vibrant co-curricular program that include NSS, DLLE, sports, cultural activities, skill development programs, and leadership training programs. Our mission is to inculcate the love of knowledge in our students and, for this, we aim to develop the skills and demeanor of ‘lifelong learning’, essential for making responsible global citizens.  Our placement cell is actively involved in providing internships and jobs to our students in various organizations. The college is well equipped with facilities like spacious classrooms, computer laboratory, playground, gymkhana, auditorium, smart classes with interactive boards, state of the art library, dynamic website, and CCTV surveillance.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of teachers, non-teaching staff, and students in bringing laurels to our institution. Despite the fact that a majority of our students come from poor socio-economic backgrounds, they do not lack the rigor to learn. Many of them have successfully passed their undergraduate and post-graduate examinations with distinction and are working in different fields at the global level. Our students have not only excelled in academics but have brought laurels in the field of sports and cultural activities to the college. I have a vision of making students more employable by organizing various skill development programs in the college. Through this, we will be attaining the goal of enlightening the life of poor and downtrodden students.   As the Principal of the college, I want to focus on the following five core values specified by NAAC: 1) Contributing to national development, 2) Fostering global competencies among students, 3) Inculcating a value system among students, 4) Promoting the use of technology, 5) Quest for excellence. I am sure with the support of students, parents, staff, and management, we will definitely achieve this goal.

I would also like to place on record my sincere gratitude towards Trustees, members of the working committee, office bearers of Dnyandeep Mandal – Mr. Francis Joseph Tuscano, (President), C.A. Dr. Valerian Ignatius Rodrigues, (Vice President -Academic and Finance), Mr. Joseph Kaitan Alphanso (Vice President -Property), Mr. Tony Francis Dabre (Treasurer), Mr. Stanislaus Joseph Lobo (Secretary), and Joint Secretary Mr. Joseph Salvador Pereira. The foresight of our management, their unsurpassed knowledge, and their willingness to cooperate in all our ventures motivate us to scale to yet greater heights of excellence.

I thank all the members of Dnyandeep Mandal for their unstinted support.
