Self Finance
Self-Finance Department is the Vibrant and Dynamic part of the institution, which strongly believes that the essence of education does not only lies in imparting knowledge but also in generating a willingness to learn by providing an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
This is possible only when our quality of education is constantly upgraded, refined and modified in tune with changing circumstances. On similar grounds, the experienced and qualified faculties at our department add colour to the student centric environment and form an imperative measurement of the department.
History
Self-Finance department’s wheels started rolling with an initial intake of 16 students for Bachelor of Banking and Insurance (B.B.I.) course and has now grown to have a total strength of approximately 550 students. It started with just one course in 2004 and has now added 3 more courses that includes Bachelor of Management and Studies(BMS) in 2008, Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) in 2013 and Bachelor of Commerce(B.com- Unaided) in 2017.
Although the Self-Finance Department started by focusing on education to make students self-reliant and to prepare them for careers in the commerce and management field. It has become a necessity to prepare students to excel in all areas. On this note, our department has gradually extended the scope of its activities to include the moulding of the overall personality of the individual learner with greater competition in all walks of life. In its journey our department has given out many prominent professionals to the society.
Objectives :-
- To provide holistic education to a diverse student community.
- To develop in them contemporary sensibilities and preparing them to meet professional challenges as global citizens.
- To produce intellectually well trained, morally upright, socially conscious and spiritually oriented men and women.
Teaching Methodology:
In order to make teaching and learning more interesting and effective our teachers make use of various teaching tools and techniques that includes:
- Classroom discussions
- Debates on controversial and current issues
- Role-play
- Case studies & paper presentation
- Management games
- Peer teaching
- Use of audio-visual aids
In addition to the conventional chalk and talk method, we are also breathing into a virtual world and thus making use of:
- PowerPoint presentations
- Conducting workshop and seminars/webinars for students, faculties and society.
- Online quiz and other activities like Short film making and e-poster making.
- Arranging discussions ( through Zoom App)
- Conducting Online lectures (during Lockdown Period-Covid 19)
Outcome /Highlights:
- Students are given exposure to the Capital market by organizing their Educational visit based on the curriculum to BSE, NSE and SEBI.
- Educational visits and Industrial visits are conducted.
- Internships are given to the interested students in Reddy Foundation and Loksatta.
- Students have carved their niche in the corporate world.
- Placement and career guidance program are conducted to enhance the opportunity for the students to get exposure to the corporate world.
- U`MI- the Management fest is celebrated by the department every year.
